   Another name for Margaret was Margaret ARCHMAN.

  General Notes:

Margaret appears to have been known as both Margaret Archibald and Margaret Archman. She was the widow of Thomas Hastie (Shoemaker) who died in 1855. In the registry entry of his death she is named as Margaret Archibald, as she is in the 1841 census where she is with Thomas and young family in Canongate, Edinburgh. She was noted as Margaret Archibald on her son Thomas' marriage registry entry in 1861, but as Archman when young Thomas died in 1874. She was also named as Archman in here own death registry entry in 1868.

Margaret had a relationship with William McGinty and had a son with him, John Hastie McGinty, in 1859. In John's birth record she is noted as Archman, but when he died in 1885 his mother is noted as Margaret Archibald.
