Richard Waring taught at the Catholic boys' secondary school - the De La Salle College in the 1940's and 50's. At the time of the 1939 Register he and his wife were living at 21 Herries Drive, Sheffield and he is described as a secondary school teacher.

Richard married Catherine Amelia Marie PILLEY, daughter of Bernard Francis PILLEY and Amelia Casson GRAVES, in 1930 in Ecclesall Bierlow, Sheffield, England. (Catherine Amelia Marie PILLEY was born on 27 Jul 1898 in Ecclesall Bierlow, Sheffield, England and died on 8 Aug 1976.)
