William Bernard PILLEY

  General Notes:

William and both his wives are remembered on a floortile in the mortuary chapel of St. Marie's Catholic Cathedral in Sheffield.
William, Theresa and all the children were listed in Bridge Street, Worksop on the 1841 census, where William was a brazier. At the time of the 1851 census the family were recorded at 38 Row Place, Liverpool with William's occupation being described as a Tinman & Brazier. He and Eliza are listed on the 1861 census at 3 Pond Street, Sheffield and William's occupation was again given as a tinman and brazier. Living with them at the time were youngest son Albert, who was a Merchant's Clerk, and their son Edward's wife and young child (Edward was in Birmingham). By the time of the 1871 census William and Eliza had moved to 19 Suffolk Road, Sheffield. William was a craftsman like his forebears as, although his father had worked exclusively with wood, for three generations before that his ancestors had worked with metal also.
