Although the photo is otherwise clear, the inscription on the Borthwick stone is not easy to read. Richard advises that this is partly to do with the daylight conditions, and dirt on the stone itself. Also, the inscription is not engraved - it's made of metal lettering fixed to the stone which fades or discolours, and doesn't always show up well - even to the naked eye.
