BAPTISM
The Bishops Transcripts for St Luke state that on "Aug 19

suggests that Jonathan was born in that year, meaning he was
32 when he died, as is stated on his headstone, not 27 as
stated in the burial registration.
BURIAL
Microfilm of Bishops Transcripts sighted by AMMC Film 91390205
D/D/RR 60 A. The burial was performed by W Conybeare. Jonathan
is described as being 27 years old but his headstone states
that he was 32.
Handwritten notes in papers of KSMB (probably written in the
early part of the period 1920-1950) say that the Grigg family
was still in Bristol at that time.
Monumental inscriptions for the Parish Church of St Luke,
Brislington, Bristol indicate that Jonathan was the only child
of William and Ann Grigg of Hengrove House in the parish.

Betty/Bette Harrill, 17 June 1811 in Parish Church of St Luke,

MARRIAGE
Bishop's Transcripts for St Luke's Brislington record that

Junein the year 1811 by Thomas Brown Simpson. In the presence
of Henry Brown, John Brown, Mary Ann Brown." (No 15 of 1811)
Deborah's husband Jonathan died in September 1819 aged only
32. Aside from his widow, who was expecting another child
that October,Jonathan Grigg left two sons: Henry aged 6 and
Francis aged one year.
Just a month later their son Jonathan Delver Grigg was born
but he too died, when he was only five weeks old.
Ten years later, in 1829, their oldest son, Henry Brown Grigg,
drowned when he was only 16 years old.
The only surviving child was Francis Grigg.

BAPTISM
In the Bishop's Transcripts for Brislington the baptism of
Francis, son of Jonathan and Deborah Grigg, is listed on the
same day as the baptism of Alfred Henry, son of John and Mary
Ann Brown. He was baptised by Thomas Brown Simpson.
Francis's father died when he was only a year old and his
mother died when he was 14. Who looked after him after she
died?
In Pigots Directory for Bristol for 1830 are the following:
GRIGG Francis Henry Agent Eagle Life Assurance 60 College
St, Bristol
GRIGG Francis Henry Agent Protector Fire Ins. 60 College Street,
Bristol
GRIGG Robert Mrs 13 Cumberland Street, Bristol
Francis Henry must have been an uncle of this Francis as this
Francis was only 12 years old in 1830.
A Francis Grigg is listed in the Slaters Directory of 1852
as living in Brislington. We do not know whether he is this
particular Francis, who would then have been 34 years old,
or someone else altogether, possibly connected to our Grigg
family. [Check his occupation, was he a doctor?]
In the 1881 census a person believed to be this Francis Grigg
was at Hengrove House, in the census for Keynsham, Somerset,
England. His wife, Ann Grigg, aged 65, born in Bedminster,
Bristol was present. At the same address were his son, Arthur
C Grigg, aged 26, insurance broker, and daughter Jessie S
Grigg, aged 24. A general servant, Emma Withers, aged 20,
who had been born in Bedminster, Bristol, was also present.
DEATH
Monumental inscriptions for the Parish Church of St Luke,
Brislington, Bristol indicate that the family of Francis and
Ann Grigg are buried in the same area as Deborah Brown's husband,
Jonathan Grigg, and parents-in-law, William and Ann. Relationships
are just guessed at this point.
Francis Grigg's death at Keynsham is recorded on St Cath's
index for the September quarter of 1884. Age 66. Vol 5c p.413
From Dave Napier:
There was a Hengrove farm and the building that was probably
the farmhouse is still there amongst the houses but it's not
a grand affair and isn't called Hengrove House.
The Neighbours of the Griggs on the 1881 census CD show that
clearly "Hengrove House" was not in Keynsham. Keynsham was
the census district not limited to the actual town and it
extended into what is now Brislington within the Bristol boundary.
The 'neighbours' on the 1881 census CD include: The Manor
House, West Town Cottage, West Town Farm (owned by the Hassells),
The Hollys, The Woodlands - and all these houses are identifiable
today as being around the West Town Lane area of Hengrove.
Other 'neighbours' in the census are : No.1 Hengrove Cottages,
Hengrove Cottage and Hengrove Farm - Hengrove Farm is still
identifiable on the map - it is a tall white house with small
windows
