Mary "Molly" HICKS, Will prob. Grayson Co, VA Sep 1847. He enlisted in

Continental Army in 1782 in Montg. Co, VA He was also taxed for land there

from 1782-1787. In his will dtd 7 Apr 1837, he gave the sum of one dollar

to his son William, 3 dollars each to his other three sons, and the balance

of estate, including one female slave, he gave to his four daughters and

their husbands, to be divided equally among them.

David was md twice, but there is no record of his first wife. His 2nd

mrg was 17 Jan 1810 Grayson Co, VA to Polly COOPER. His children are all by

(Susannah lost her mind after the 2 girls died in 1876--my grandmother

said she "just quit livin") I had always heard the 2 were twins, but that

was obviously incorrect.

Grandmother Frances GODFREY ROBERTS went to Wash. State in 1901, and had

always talked of the holler she grew up in on Huff Cr. In abt 1940 her

children gave her a trip to W.V. to visit her childhood home, and her

beloved sister, Evelyn. Her dau. Dona ROSS accompanied her.

Upon returning to Wash. the children asked her about the holler she grew

up in. Her answer was, "Land-a-goshen honey chile, between the road and the

railroad, there ain't no holler left."
