Papaw+' Family-1910-1915

The photo was made around 1920 in Big Four,WV (McDowell County, near Welch). The couple standing to the left of the steps is Nancy Alafair Whitt and Richard Lewis Mullins. The children on and near the steps are their children, but the only one I am certain of is the little boy with the hat and no shoes. This is my grandfather, Lewis Edley Mullins. He is alive tody at 91 years old and lives in Oceana,WV. There were 8 children in this family, only six are seen here, but Alafair appears to be with child in the picture. The other children's names were: Hannah (married Bert Short), William C. "Elmo" (married Arretta ?). Nora Beatrice (married Gaythor Johnson).Thurman (died young), Avon, Sally, and Ida. It is believed that the elder lady on the far left, back ,is Hannah Sarah Smith Whitt, Alafair's mother. The other people are relatives according to my grandfather, but he can not say with certainty who they are. I would very much like to find out.

My Mullins line goes back to Revolutionary John Mullins of Clintwood,VA. The Richard in this picture is his descendent by way of:

Rev. John Mullins>James "Dr Jim" Mullins>Solomon "Pound Sol" Mullins>John Mullins>Richard Mullins. The line connects to me by, Richard Mullins>Lewis Mullins>Thurman Mullins>Deborah Mullins Disalvo, then my son, Jermy Hallmark and his daughter, Jade Delinda Hallmark. We currently have 5 living generations.
