August 22, 1883 letter from Wales This is the transcription of a letter written from family in Wales to Ann Jenkins in Utah.  I believe the "Cambrians" mentioned are local newspapers from their area of Wales.  Words I could not decipher have been replaced by empty spaces. It appears that this note or letter accompanied a shawl which Ann's son, John Jenkins, may have carried home with him; he had been serving an LDS mission to Wales.  The original of this letter is now at the Brigham Young University "Pioneer Memorial Library" in Provo, Utah.

My Dearest Sister Anne,
I send this little shawl as a token of my love for you, hoping you will wear it in the winter to keep you warm. It will soon be here.
We are sorry to part with your son, but we rather him to go than suffer illness.
I have been ill this 2 years. I thought I should have gone from here last winter and the winter before, but here I am yet and I hope to meet you in Zion.  It was me that sent you the Cambrians from time to time and again if I live.
Your son will give you the history of us all and I conclude with kindest love to you all. Particularly you and Evan.  We all join in kindest love to you all.  John and myself would like to have your likenessess and we will send you ours in a more perfect manner. And we beg to remain your most affectionate Brother and Sister.

       John and Amelia Walters.
