Some say Allen , some say Alonzo, some just give initial A. Need to obtain documentation. Obadiah died 7 Mar 1876 in New London, Waupaca, WI, at 56 years of age.⁽¹⁵⁵⁾ age 56y; gravestone His body was interred 9 Mar 1876 in New London, Waupaca, WI, Florial Hill Cemetery.⁽¹⁵⁶⁾ text from gravestone (as copied by Lawrence H. He married Lucy Ann Apt in Charlotte, Washington, ME, 1840.⁽¹⁵⁷⁾ 16 children; highly probable that Lucy was only 13 at the time of her marriage to Obadiah (Lucy Ann Apt is #57106.)

Lucy was born 12 Nov 1827 in Long Reach, Charlotte, New Brunswick, CAN.⁽¹⁵⁸⁾ near Calais, ME (poss Long Beach) Lucy was the daughter of Johann George Apt Jr and Elizabeth (Betsy) Thomas.

Lucy died 1 Mar 1884 in New London, Waupaca, WI, at 56 years of age.⁽¹⁵⁹⁾ Her body was interred 3 Mar 1884 in New London, Waupaca, WI, Florial Hill Cemetery.⁽¹⁶⁰⁾

Obadiah was listed as the head of a family on the 1840 Census in Alexander, Washington, ME.⁽¹⁶¹⁾ He resided in Hortonville, Outagamie, WI Aug 1849.⁽¹⁶²⁾ migrated with wife and 5 children

Obadiah Allen is my grt grt grandfather and after his marriage to Lucy Ann APT in 1840 in Charolette,Washington,Me, and 5 children he then moved with his family to Hortonia (Hortonville-now called),Outagamie,Wi, in Aug of 1849. Obadiah and Lucy had 11 more children,therfore 16 in all. Their 9th child was Joel Scott Blackwood born 1n 1856 in Hortonville,Outagamie,Wi is my grt grandfather.

Obadiah was an ice maker, blacksmith, hotel owner, and saloon keeper in Hortonville (formerly Hortonia) and New London, Outagamie County, WI. New London is one of those towns that is located in two counties (Outagamie and Waupaca). Abstract from The Pioneers of Outagamie County, Wisconsin, Elihu Spencer (1895), p 235:

O.A. Blackwood was born in New Brunswick in 1815; came to Hortonville in 1849 and worked for A.E. Horton, running his saw mill eight years; he married Lucy Apt in 1840; they have had one son and four daughters.

1. Sarah, born in 1842, married to Charles Sweetser in March 1864; they have three daughters. 2. Josiah, born in 1844, married to Rosetta Manley in 1867; they have one daughter. Mrs. Blackwood died in 1871; Mr. Blackwood married his second wife, Emma Foster, in 1874; they have one son and one daughter and they now live in Appleton. 3. Olive, born in 1846, married to Nicholas Luxinger in 1865; they have one son; she d 1887. 4. Betsey, born in 1848, married to Romanzo Hasting in 1866; they had one son and one daughter; she d 1874. 5. Laura, born in 1849; married to A. Johnson in 1870; they have one son. Mr. Johnson d 1875; Mrs. Johnson married James Taylor, her second husband, in 1885; they now live in Milwaukee.

O.A. Blackwood died in Mar 1874 in New London (WI). Josiah Blackwood was a soldier in the War of the Rebellion; he enlisted 21 Jan 1863 in Company A, Third Wisconsin Calvary, and served until the end of the war.
