We always thought that the White Shrine Institute, Rochester NY, gave him his first
seeing eye dog, a German Shepherd named Boots. They trained
there for six to eight weeks.

However at the 2013 reunion, this card was on the cake! Leader Dog ID Card.
Leader Dogs for the Blind is located in Rochester Hills, MI.

Shortly after the 2009 reunion I received this undated article about Tammy, donated
by Mr and Mrs Karl Straub of the Greater Louisville Training Club.
Since grandpa mentioned he was blinded 18 years earlier, my guess is the article was around 1948.

He trained his other dogs himself. They included another German Shepherd, Smokey,
and a Black Labador named Joe.

Life member of the Masons, was recognized for 50 years in 1963.
