Isaac Pinkney MULLINS and Nancy Ann MORGAN

Isaac Pinkney came to McLennan Co. Texas in the early 1850s with his parents Thomas Mullins (c1791 Doss Wash VA-aft 1865)and Charity Couch c1793 SC-aft 1860). Thomas and Charity were married in Madison Co. AL, and all of their children were probably born in AL. Before coming to TX, the Mullins family also lived in Franklin Co. AL. The Mullins were slaveholders. It is known that Isaac Pinkney's brother, Thomas Porter Mullins who fought in Hood's TX Brigade in the Civil War, owned a slave named George Glasker. Former slaves Uncle Charlie and Aunt Sylvia are known to have lived with Isaac Pinkney's daughter, Peachie. Because ownership of slaves was passed on through wills and deeds of gift, it is likely that Uncle Charlie and Aunt Sylvia were held previously by Isaac Pinkney. Strengthening this theory is our family tradition that Isaac Pinkney's son, James Robert, was nicknamed "Jim Buck" by their female slave. The name stuck with him for life. After Emancipation, Uncle Charlie and Aunt Sylvia stayed with the family until after the deaths of Isaac Pinkney and Nancy Ann; then they joined Peachie and her family.
