In 1858 they settled permanently in Coryell county, Texas.-- According to a map probably labeled by Lois Kinsey Blocker, it shows Thomas Kinsey living in Wood Co. TX 1844-1849. According to USGenWeb Wood Co. TX web site, "Up to the year of 1848 Wood Co. was included in Nacogdoches Co., when Van Zandt Co. was segregated from Nacogdoches. Van Zandt Co. then included the present counties of Van Zandt, Wood and Rains. Wood Co. was organized in 1850, but not in time to be counted separately in the federal census of that year. Wood Co. residents are included in the Van Zandt Co. federal census for 1850. Quitman was designated as the county seat and remains so today."

of Nancy & William Barley.COMMENTS: 1 - Per Imogene Kinsey, Bandera TX, "There was a Henry Kinsey that was in (San Augustine) TX in the 1840s thru 1863. Henry was a well respected lawyer in San Augustine. In 1863 a store owner was found murdered & robbed.
The The evidence found indicated 2 black men and another white man. After a speedy trial the men were found guilty, but before they were to be hanged them were tortured for more information. They implicated Henry in the murder. Many of the townspeople went after Henry, but his family and friends helped him and discouraged what surely would have been a lynching. Henry was still not safe there, and fled to Nacogdoches. Someone found out his whereabouts and he was murdered in his hotel room."
