COMMENTS: 1 - Per Imogene Kinsey, Bandera TX, "There was a Henry Kinsey that was in (San Augustine) TX in the 1840s thru 1863. Henry was a well respected lawyer in San Augustine. In 1863 a store owner was found murdered & robbed.
The The evidence found indicated 2 black men and another white man. After a speedy trial the men were found guilty, but before they were to be hanged them were tortured for more information. They implicated Henry in the murder. Many of the townspeople went after Henry, but his family and friends helped him and discouraged what surely would have been a lynching. Henry was still not safe there, and fled to Nacogdoches. Someone found out his whereabouts and he was murdered in his hotel room." June Sherman found this Henry Kinsey in 1992: 1850 Texas Census, Schedule I - Free Inhabitants in San Augustine District in the County of San Augustine, State of Texas, enumerated by me, on the 18th day of Sept. 1850, Wm. B.M. Shan, Asst. Marshall - Dwelling 120, Family 120 - Hotel, H.M. Kinsey, 33 yrs. old, male, Value of Real Estate owned $800, b. PA. Also found is Pvt. H.M. Kinsey - age 41 (b.c1821/22), joined Co. A (San Augustine) TX in Jan 1863. This probably is not our Henry since we found our Henry in 1860 (Robertson) TX; 2 - No living descendants found.
