He resided 74 Pirie Street in 1932 in Wellington, New Zealand.(6) He resided 37 Wallace Street in 1939 in Karori, Wellington, New Zealand.(17) He died on 24 Feb 1942 in Karori, Wellington, New Zealand. (18) Cemetery records say 1942, but death cert says 1939? He was buried at Karori Cemetery, Plot 149.0.C2 about 28 Feb 1942 in Karori, Wellington, New Zealand.(19) He was a Lighthousekeeper, Miner. 11. Honora Mary Josephine' O'NEILL was born on 10 Mar 1878 in Garranearagh, Cahersiveen, Co Kerry, Ireland.(21) "Honoria" dtr of Patrick Neill, farmer, of Garranearagh and Mary Dawley; informant Patrick Neill; registered 23.3.1878.

Garranearagh is a townland of 414 acres in Co Kerry, barony of Iveragh, parish of Caher, PLU Cahersiveen, province of Munster.
She resided 201 The Terrace in 1946 in Karori, Wellington, New Zealand. (22) She died on 16 Feb 1946 in Karori, Wellington, New Zealand.(23) She was buried at Karori Cemetery, Plot 149.0.C2 about 20 Feb 1946 in Karori, Wellington, New Zealand. (24) O'Neill: The O Neills were one of three royal Irish familes; the name came from King Nial, who was killed fighting the Vikings in AD 919. The name is the same in English and Irish, and means champion. The O Neills are from Antrim, Armagh, Carlow, Clare, Cork, Down, Tipperary, Tyrone and Waterford. Children were:

child ii. Ernest James ROCHFORT Jnr was born on 2 Mar 1906 in Bulawayo, Rhodesia. He died on 22 Jun 1974.(26) Jim was in the Navy for 28 years and served in the Korean War, earning a British Empire medal. He lived with Paddy and Mona for many years until he married Dympna, then they lived at Hatfields Beach.

(27) Father Ernest Rochfort, European, born New Zealand; mother Norah O'Neill Rochfort, European, born Ireland; informant E Rochfort, father, of Palace Hotel, Bulawayo. He died on 30 Jun 1980 in Auckland, New Zealand.(28) There is another death cert for a Cyril Patrick Rochfort in 1974 (#12194) which was for a 77yo man (ie born 1897)... Who could this be???

child v. Terence Patrick ROCHFORT was born on 5 Jan 1917 in Maharahara, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand.(29) He resided 7 Arthur Street with parents about 1930 in Wellington, New Zealand. He was described as 5 feet 10½ inches tall at enlistment in 1940. He Served As Pvt, Reg #30829, 4A Tank Co; World War II in 1940/41.(30) Rochfort, Terence; dob 05Jan1917; Roman Catholic; single; storeman; Pte; Attestation paper #367 declared 26Jan1940; 2nd NZEF (4th AT Coy) 22 Bn; Medical Category L; next of kin Mr Rochfort, father, 7 Arthur St, Wellington; last employer JR McKenzies, 222 Willis St, Wellington; educational qualification "proficiency;" enlisted 01Feb1940.

Terence completed his NZ service on 30Apr1940; he then served with the 4th Armored Tank Company in UK until 05Jan1941, then embarked UK with the 32 Wellington Battalion until 08Mar1941 (entered Egypt 05Mar1941) . He then joined the 22 Battalion and embarked to join the Lustre Force in ME in Mar1941; reported safe in Crete on 18May1941; killed in action 21May1941.

Terence was several times disciplined: for being AWL from 2100h 21Sep1940 to 0630h 22Sep1940 (forfeited one day's pay) and for 11hrs on 30Apr1941 (8 days' forfeiture of pay). He was also awarded 21 days' detention on 29Oct1940 for offences: 1/ conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline for acting in an offensive manner while under the influence of alcohol; 2/disobeying the lawful command of a superior officer (refused to quit a bus when so ordered); 3/breaking custody (escaped from escort while under arrest); 4/ AWL from 1200h to 1500h on 29Oct1940; and 5/escaping from custody.
He died on 21 May 1941 in Crete, Greece.(31) (32) In Memory of TERENCE ROCHFORT, Private 30829, N.Z. Infantry, who died on Wednesday, 21st May 1941, age 24. Son of Ernest Rochfort and of Nora Rochfort (nee O'Neil), of Wellington City, New Zealand.

(33) Athens Memorial, Greece; Grave Reference/Panel Number: Face 14. The Athens Memorial stands within Phaleron War Cemetery, which lies a few kilometres to the South-East of Athens, at the boundary between Old Phaleron District and Kalamaki district. It is on the coast road from Athens to Vouliaghmen, 5 kilometres west of the international airport. The Memorial is built of Pentelicon marble, similar to that used in the Parthenon. A rectangular shelter or tempietto leads through square-headed openings onto an oblong paved terrace from which rise eight large pillars, four on each side, bearing the names of those commemorated. At the far end a short flight of steps leads up to the Stone of Remembrance. Athens Memorial commemorates nearly 3,000 members of the land forces of the British Commonwealth and Empire who lost their lives during the campaigns in Greece and Crete in 1941 and 1944-1945, in the Dodecanese Islands in 1943-1945 and in Yugoslavia in 1943-1945, and who have no known grave. Within the tempietto, on a shelf of black marble, facing a curved seat of green Tinos marble, is the box containing the register of names,. These colours are repeated on the margins on the paved floor. Above the register box, in English, and above the seat, in modern Greek, is the dedicatory inscription which reads: 1939 - 1945 WITHIN THIS CEMETERY STAND MONUMENTS BEARING THE NAMES OF THE SOLDIERS OF THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH AND EMPIRE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE STRUGGLE FOR THE DEFENCE OF GREECE AND CRETE IN 1941 AND IN LATER OPERATIONS IN GREECE, THE DODECANESE AND YUGOSLAVIA, BUT TO WHOM THE FORTUNE OF WAR DENIED A KNOWN AND HONOURED GRAVE. Over the openings, in Ancient Greek at the South and in English at the North, is the text: WE, WHO TO CLOTHE HELLAS IN FREEDOM FOUGHT, LIE HERE AT REST IN PRAISE THAT FADETH NOT.
