Avery Reunion - 1999

AVERY FAMILY REUNION

Amish Country Inn

Berlin, Ohio

July 9-10, 1999

The Avery reunion returned to the Amish Country Inn in Berlin, Ohio with 25 adults and 7 children. Many activities are available in the area, swimming, carriage rides, shopping and a large grassy area for volleyball, games, and where small children can play. Next door to the Inn is a restaurant for meals and the rooms have patios where we gathered to visit.

Saturday evening a buffet dinner was served in the banquet room at the restaurant. After dinner, Ken Avery presented Kendra Avery the bell that his mother (Lydia) had used when she was teaching school. Kendra is also in the teaching profession. Each adult had submitted to Kendra earlier an interesting fact or event in their life which we were to match with the person. It was a fun time and interesting information was learned regarding each person. Joan Avery won the prize with 9 correct.

Joan Avery will organize our favorite recipes to be compiled into a cookbook. A copy of the cookbook will be sent to the McIlhenny Company, Avery Island, LA, who is giving an award for best cookbook submitted. We may not be eligible for an award but it would be nice to have an Avery coleection of favorite recipes. Mail your recipes to Joan Avery by September 1, 1999.

We had breakfast Sunday morning at the restaurant and then goodbyes were exchanged until two years when we will meet again for another enjoyable reunion.
