This is a photo of Jeremiah “Jerry” Willis Rhodes and his wife, Martha
Azella Brown Rhodes.
Jeremiah was a private in Co. I, 13th Tennessee Infantry, in the Confederate
States Army.
He enlisted on May 30th, 1861and was captured at Franklin, Tenn., Nov.
30, 1854.
He was released at Camp Douglas, Illinois, June 18, 1865, on taking
the Oath of Allegiance.
Jerry and Mattie moved from Henderson Co., Tennessee after the Civil
War and settled near
the Joshua, Texas area. They married in October 1, 1868 in Henderson
County.
Both are buried at the Caddo Cemetery in Joshua, Texas.
Jeremiah is the son of William Rhodes and Sarah Hastins Rhodes
