William continued the family trade of "Baker". The next record we find of this family is in 1851 in St. Charles, Kane Co., IL
The William Palethorpe family moved from Illinois to Romeo, Michigan previous to 1866. On 1 January 1866, William runs an ad in the "Peninsular Herald" that reads:
"ROMEO BAKERY ... the undersigned would respectfully inform the public that he keeps constantly on hand Bread, Crackers, Cakes, Pies, etc. Also an assortment of Groceries, Nuts, Candies, etc. sold on as reasonable terms as can be found elsewhere in this market. A share of patronage is solicited. WILLIAM PALETHORP, Romeo, January 1, 1866"
The following year in the 1 January 1867 edition, he runs this ad:
"It is not generally known that we have a Confectionery manufactory in Romeo, but such is the case. Mr. WILLIAM PALETHORPE has such an establishment in connection with his Bakery. He keeps in their season, Oysters, Ice Cream, etc. and the Bread, Cakes, Crackers, and Pies he furnished to his customers have the reputation of being A No. 1"
Later this same year on 15 March 1867 William Palethorp and Mary, his wife, of Romeo, for $1,070 purchase part of Lot #4 Block #1 Range 1 west of Main Street and south of St. Clair Street ... said strip 34 feet wide both front and.rear, extending back 112' feet, from John W. Dyar. Witnessed by Thomas Palethorpe. 16 August 1871 William buys another piece of land adjoining the above for $600 from Isaac Crawford.
Mary died in 1883, and in 1884 Williams deeds to his son John E. (Eddie) Palethorp, for $2,000, part of the first above-mentioned piece of land, plus the second piece, John agreeing to pay off the mortgage. Two years later John (Eddie) and his wife Ella borrow $600, due in 6 months plus 10% interest. Defaulting on payments, in March 1887 the two pieces of property are sold at public auction by the Sheriff for $1,306 and $712.

William Palethorpe dies 11 June 1890 at the age of 66, and is buried in Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan. His wife, Mary Clarke Palethorpe died prior to him on 22 August 1883 at age 62, and is buried in Romeo, Macomb County, Michigan. It is likely that after Mary died in 1883, William went to live with his son Frederick H. in Pontiac, Michigan, where he died in 1890. Frederick followed his father in death 3 December 1891 and is also buried at Pontiac.
