Fuller A. Reed
Dies in Hospital

Fuller A. Reed of north of Elvaston, who had been a patient in Memorial hospital for two weeks, passed away Monday.

The son of Creed and Henrietta Altizer Reed, he was born in Floyd County, Va., Feb. 1, 1877.  He worked as a lumberman in his younger days.

He was married to Laura Belle Walton at Renick, W. Va., September 26, 1911.  She passed away April 14, 1932.

Deceased has lived in Hancock county about twenty five years.

Surviving are two sons, Lester of near Elvaston and Mark of Dillsbury, Pa., and one daughter, Mrs. Ray Williams of Hamilton.

Also four brothers and two sisters, Sherman of Waukee, Ia., Alfred, Dallas City, Charles, Lomax, Henry of LaHarpe and Mrs. Arthur Emery of Disco and Mrs. Thos. Allen of Quincy.  There are nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 at the Baptist church, with the Rev. W. C. Burk officiating.  Deceased had been a member of the local church for 18 years.

Burial in Pilot Grove cemetery.

Final Rites Held for
Fuller A. Reed

Fuller A. Reed, son of Creed and Henrietta Reed, was born February 1, 1875 in Floyd County Virginia, and passed away October 19, 1953 near Elvaston, Illinois at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 19 days.

His mother passed away when he was a small boy.  He moved with his father and sister, Zetta, to Greenbrier County, West Virginia, where he grew to manhood.

Fuller was united in marriage September 26, 1911 to Miss Laura B. Walton at Renick, West Virginia.  To this union were born two sons and one daughter; Lester H. of Carthage; Mack F. of Dillsburg, Penn.; and Mabel A. Williams of Hamilton.

The following half brothers and sisters survive: Louisa Emry of Disco; Sherman Reed of Waukee, Iowa; Henry Reed of LaHarpe; Alfred Reed of Dallas City; Charles Reed of Lomax and Martha Allen of Quincy.  His wife preceded him in death, April 14, 1932.

Fuller joined the Baptist church of Carthage in October 1934 to which he proved faithful until death.

The funeral was held Friday, October 23 at 10:00 a. m. at the Baptist church with Rev. Walter C. Burk officiating.  Dorothy Frazee sang "The Old Rugged Cross" "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone" and "He Hideth My Soul" with Mrs. Ted Lane organist.

Pall bearers were O. E. Patrick, Harvey Hitz, Chester McVay, Donald Stewart, Robert Stewart and Louis Scheuermann.

Burial was at Pilot Grove cemetery.

There is no wife left to mourn, but children feel the grief when Father leaves his work on earth and turns another leaf or opens up another door to an eternal life where there is everlasting peace without an hour of strife.

So let us dry our fevered eyes and
     look to God
Above who gives but also takes
     away, in kindliness and love.
