Gordon C. REED

Funeral services were held Sunday for Gordon C. REED, 89, of Ferris, at Fecht funeral home in Carthage, the Rev. Dewey Cave of Liberty officiating.

Burial was in the Church of  The Brethren Cemetery at Colmar.

Mr. REED was born July 20, 1877 in Floyd County, Virginia. the son of Bartholomew and Malinda REED.  He died Feb. 24 at Heron nursing home in Bushnell.

He was married to Minnie DUNCAN in September 1898.  They were the parents of five children; Martin of East Moline; Burman of Ft. Madison, Iowa; Bessie, deceased; Leslie of Tennessee, and Harry, deceased.  Mrs. REED died in 1906.

Mr. REED came to Illinois in 1908 and married Mary KING.  Three sons were born to them: Ernest of Victoria; Arthur of La Harpe and Austin of Bushnell.

He was a member of the Church of The Brethren.

He is survived by six sons, 11 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary KING, five sisters and one brother.

Pallbearers were Dale G. DULANEY, Donald REED, William H. REED, Lloyd KING, Claude KING and George KING.
