I. Leslie Reed

CARTHAGE, Ill. --- I. Leslie Reed, 88, of Carthage, formerly of La Harpe and Colusa, a retired farmer, died at 6 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 22, 1992) in Burlington (Iowa) Medical Center.

Born Aug. 4, 1904, in Floyd County, Va., Mr. Reed was a son of Gordon and Minnie Duncan Reed.  He hauled limestone and farmed near Colusa for many years and had lived in the Henderson County Retirement Center in Stronghurst for two years.  He was a member of Colusa United Methodist Church.

On Dec. 22, 1927, he married Geneva Mathews in Colusa.  She died May 24, 1990.  He also was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Survivors include a son, Harry D. of Plant City, Fla.; a daughter, Donna K. Horne of Burlington; two half brothers, Austin Reed of Bushnell and Art Reed of La Harpe; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Banks and Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City by the Rev. Donna Harris.  Burial will be in Harris Cemetery near Dallas City.

Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. today with family meeting friends 7-8:30 tonight in the funeral home.
