Obituary of Mary Virginia Frances Funk Craighead Kreger

Funk Craighead Mary Virginia Frances Funk Craighead Kreger, 106, died peacefully in her sleep with the company of her daughters on Friday, September 9, 2005. She was the oldest living member of Victory Baptist Church. Virginia was preceded in death by her two husbands, Jessee Lee Craighead and John Kreger; her daughter, Lena C. Drewery; three sons-in-law, William Ayers, Roy Kelly, and William Drewery; and step daughter Lucille Redmon. Surviving are her daughters, Nettie C. Ayers and Flora C. Kelly, both of Roanoke; step daughter Ruby Carr of Luray, Va.; grandchildren, Sharon Kay Kelly Shelton (David) of Roanoke, Patricia A. Drewery (John) of Roanoke, Linda Carol Lemay (Sam) of Timberville, Va., Pamela Sue Vaden (George) of Dover, Pa., Michael Ayers of Staunton, and William Ayers, Jr. of Waynesboro; eight step grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, September 12, 2005 at Oakey's North Chapel with the Pastor Michael Conn and the Rev. Carter Sloan officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's North Chapel
