Business Meeting � Mar 1, 1916
The JEB Stuart Chapter met in regular business session at the home of Mrs. J. M. Andrews Feb [sic] 1, 1916.
Chapter opened with the Lords Prayer. Sec. reported that a transfer had been sent Mrs. Marjorie Hancock.
A letter was read from the Historian on giving some �don�ts� for the Daughters to observe.
The President spoke of the Educational Com she appointed and of their work.
The Treasurer reported that the funds in the Wharton National Bank belonging the UDC might be drawn out discounting 10% or that a certain amt. might be drawn out every month.
A motion carried that each guest have the privilege of inviting one friend to the next meeting which will be in the home of Mrs. J. F. Estill, also that if each member might wish to invite two friends that they might do so.
The business being finished a short program prepared by the President was given including the following members.

At the conclusion of the program the hostess assisted by Mabel Outlar, Marion Rowe and Virginia Neff served dainty refreshments.

Texas Confederate Heroes Day Mar. 15, 1916
The JEB Stuart Chapter was charmingly entertained in the home of Mrs. J. F. Estil Mar. 15. As this was a social meeting the minutes were dispensed with.
The chapter was opened with a short prayer by Rev. Homer.
Roll call was answered with the name of some Texas Confederate hero.

Apr. 5, 1916 � Business Meeting
A business meeting of JEB Stuart Chapter was held at the Library, Apr. 5, 1916, with a small membership present.
Meeting opened with the Lord�s Prayer and following business transacted. Letter read from Mrs. ___ ___ asking for a contribution for the Shiloh Monument. After discussion a motion carried that no addition would be made to the am�t. already pledged for Shiloh, the amt pledged being $2.50.
Motion carried that Memorial Day services be held at the Presbyterian Church as they had kindly offered the use of their building. Services to be held in the afternoon of April. 22 at 4 o�clock.
President asked that the wreaths for decorating veteran�s graves be sent to Mrs. Galbreath Sat. afternoon � Apr. 22d.
Resolutions condemning the speech of �Cyclone� Davis, Congressman from Texas at large were read and adopted.
A short lesson was studied on �The Wrongs of History Righted� after which the chapter adjourned.

Apr. 19, 1916 Social Meeting
A most enjoyable meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Gordon Crabill Apr. 19, 1916. The Chapter was called to order by the President followed by a reading of the minutes of the last meeting.
Report read from chairman of the Cemetery Com. Stating that fifty-two (52) wreaths had been promised.
Letter read from Pres. of Texas Division UDC asking that the Dallas Chapter�s resolutions on �Cyclone� Davis be added to the resolutions already passed by the Chapter.
Motion carried to this effect.
Our President read an extract from a speech made by Hon. James B. Buchanan in answer to �Cyclone� Davis� speech.
Motion carried that we have a picture show benefit the proceeds to be used to send some of the old veterans to the re-union.

After the business meeting the following numbers were given:

May 3, 1916 � Business Meeting
The JEB Stuart Chapter met in regular business session at the hospitable home of Mrs. H. J. Russell May 3, 1916. Meeting was opened with the Lord�s Prayer.
Chairman of Cemetery Com. reported an expenditure of $1.00 for paper used on Decoration Day.
Motion carried that all graves of Confederate veterans be marked and Mr. Susko to be given the order.
Am�t rec�d from picture show benefit was $16.15 and as the cost of transpoirtation to the re-union was $20.00 a motion carried that the balance be taken from the treasury.
Letter read asking for flowers and money for Camp Chase. Motion carried that $1.00 be sent them.
Letter read from �Cyclone� Davis in defense of his speech.
$1.00 dues rec�d from Mrs. R. A. Armstrong.
Motion carried that $2.50 be sent to Shiloh and $2.50 to Arlington.
A cordial invitation was extended the JEB Stuart Chapter to meet the Bay City chapter a social �way� at the home of Mrs. M. D. Taylor at Iago, Friday May 5, 1916.
This concluded the business. A short program was given after which delicious refreshments were served by the hostess.

May 17, 1916 Social Meeting
A most enjoyable meeting of the JEB Stuart Chapter was held in the home of Mrs. J. T. Murphy, May 17, 1916.
Before the program the following business was transacted. Motion carried that a rising vote of thanks be sent Mrs. Taylor for her hospitality to the Chapter.
Motion carried that every member pay 10 cents extra for State Dues instead of taking it from the treasury.
Motion carried that a telegram of congratulation be sent to John Austin Sanders State Mascot UDC as this was the day of his graduation.
Letter rec�d from Bay City stating that Mrs,. Rugely, President of Bay City Chapter was ill at her home. Our President instructed Cor. Sec. to write a note of regret.
Dues rec�d from Mrs. Lipscomb.
Mrs. Estil reported that a check had been sent Dr. Teague for his trip to the re-union.
Dues rec�d from Mrs. Nante Duncan Corbett.
This concluded the business and the following numbers were given.

Our hostess had prepared an original contest which proved very interesting to all. Each member wrote on a slip of paper their best idea of a labor saver in the home. After a vote, Miss Willie Pickard�s was decided on as the best and a beautiful souvenir spoon was presented to her by the hostess. Lovely refreshments in the Confederate Colors were served.

June 5 1916 � Social Meeting
The JEB Stuart Chapter was delightfully entertained in the home of our honored President Mrs. M. R. Bolton June 5, 1916.
A short business session was held during which the Cemetery Committee gave a report of their work.
The following members paid dues:

The Chapter was glad to have present at this time Miss Kate Rugely who on account of a long illness had been absent for some time.

Questions - �The Wrongs of History Righted� were asked by our historian Mrs. Hall.
Mrs. Bolton had as guest on this occasion, her cousin, Mrs. Randolph of Bay City.
After the program delicious refreshments including a salad and ice course was served by the hostess.

Sept. 6 1916
The JEB Stuart Chapter was entertained in the hospitable home of Mrs. L. B. Outlar, Sept. 6, 1916.
Chapter was opened with prayer after which minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Mrs. Barbee, a chapter bride, was presented with a bouquet of flowers and Mrs. Bell with her chapter baby a growing fern.
A beautiful and inspiring talk was by the President.
Lovely refreshments were served by the hostess assisted by her daughter, Mabelle.

Oct. 4, 1916
A delightful meeting of the JEB Stuart Chapter was held on Oct. 4 in honor of the famous soldier Gen. John H. Reagan, at the Plaza Hotel. Mrs. Merriwether, hostess. A short business meeting was held in the library at 3 o�clock transacting in order to have an election of officers.
The following being elected for the 1916-17 term:
Pres � Mrs. M. R. Bolton, by an unanimous vote, Mrs. Bolton was elected life President.

The following delegates were elected at the general convention in Dallas

Mrs. Newsome by unanimous vote was elected Life Honorary President and Mrs. Hill appointed to notify her of the same.
This concluded the business meeting and the Chapter adjourned to reassemble at the Plaza Hotel at 4 o�clock where a splendid program honoring Gen. John H,. Reagan was given.
Rev. Homer on this occasion was presented with a cross of honor by our Pres.
After the program a delicious ice course in the Confederate colors was served by Mrs. Merriwether.

Oct. 8, 1916
Business Meeting UDC
The JEB Stuart Chapter met in regular business session at the home of Mrs. B. R. Valls, Oct. 18, 1916.
Minutes of previous meeting read and approved, followed by the reports of officers.
Our President spoke of the pulley from the Confederate battleship Harriet Lowe, which is now in the National Museum at Richmond Va, and upon motion it was decided to send for the pulley and have it placed in the Texas Museum.
Motion made that the copy of �The Daily Rebel� published during the war & presented to the chapter by Mrs. McCauley be sent to the National Museum. Mrs. Cole resigned from the office of Cor. Sec. and by unanimous vote Mrs. Outlar elected to fill the office.
Delegates for the State Convention in Corpus Christi were elected,

Were named as delegates, with
Mrs. Chas. Koehl

The President instructed Cor. Sec. to write Miss Katie Daffon in regard to the box for the Old Ladies Home.
A discussion of much interest at this meeting was whether this Chapter should give a medal to the schoolchild writing the best essay in History. Nothing definite was decided on .
It was agreed by the members that in future the Chapter would meet at 3:30 o�clock and the President urged everyone to be on time.

Nov. 1, 1916 Social Meeting
The JEB Stuart Chapter had the pleasure of meeting with Miss Kate Rugely Nov. 1 in a social meeting.
The Chapter was called to order by the President and the following business transacted: -
Letter read from Mrs. Dibbrell acknowledging receipt of ?$2.,50for the Arlington monument.
President spoke of the convention in Dallas and urged every delegate to go.
An interesting program followed led by Miss Willie Pickard, consisting of:

Nov. 15, 1916 Business Meeting
A business meeting of the JEB Stuart Chapter was held in the home of Mrs. Chas. Koehl, Nov. 15,1916
Our President called the meeting to order, and the Chapter proceeded with business.
A report of the General Convention was given by Miss Willie Pickard. Letter was ready by Mrs. L. B. Outlar in regard to the Xmas Seals which are to be sold this year by the Kress stores exclusively.
The following members paid dues: -
Mrs. Horner $1.30 & Mrs. Collett $1.30.
Report of Treasurer was given at this meeting.
A short program was given, in which Mrs. M. R. Bolton read an article on Philanthropic and Relief Work which all enjoyed.
Question for the next lesson were ready by Miss Willie Pickard.
This concluded the program and refreshments were served by the hostess assisted by her house guest Miss Carville.

Dec. 13, 1916
The last Chapter meeting of the 1916 year was held at the home of Miss Willie Pickard Dec. 13, 1916.
A report of the treasurer was read stating the $10 had been paid Mr. Susko on UCV markers.
Mrs. Outlar read a letter from Supt. Of Old Ladies Home in regards to the Old Ladies.
Motion carried that JEB Stuart Chapter send handkerchiefs to the Old Ladies for Xmas. The President appointed Mrs. Hall & Valls on com. to buy h�d�k�fs.
Motion carried that $2.50 be sent to Supt. of Home for Con. Veterans to buy tobacco or fruit for the old veterans.
Motion carried that Cor. Sec. be instructed to send greetings from JEB Stuart Chapter to each of the local veterans.
Motion carried that oyster feast be given old veterans for Jan. 17, Lee�s birthday.
Letter read stating that papers of Mrs. Collett & Horner had been rec�d.
This concluded the business and after a short program refreshments were served by the hostess and the Chapter adjourned to meet Jan. 3, 1917 wit the President Mrs. M. R. Bolton
