Story of William McRostie
Tantanoola
- November 27th 1913
(The Border Watch Saturday, November 29, 1913. From our own correspondent)
'The pale horse and its rider' has again put in an appearance, and taken one of our well-known residents to the bourne from whence there is no returning.
After a very brief illness, Mr. William MacRostie passed away in Mount Gambier yesterday, and was interred in the Mount cemetery today. Deceased was the fifth son of Mr. and Mrs. Jas MacRostie, of this district, and was born in Mount Gambier.
Not many years after, he came to this district with his parents, and resided here practically all his life. At the time of the gold rush in Western Australia he went there with others to try his luck but was unsuccessful. A few years afterwards he was a successful applicant for one of the commonage blocks, which he held at the time of his death. Deceased was of a kindly and retiring disposition. A wife and family of three sons and three daughters are left to mourn their loss. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
He accidentally shot and killed his brother Richard while duck shooting. (See report under Richard McRostie.)
