OUR WIESLER/WIESSLER/WISSLER LINE

 

B.     [-?-] WIESLER and his family lived in Einöd, about 2 miles NW of Zweibrücken (Fig. 1).  His children were:

 

i.                     JOHANNES WIESLER (see A.  below).

 

ii.                   ELISABETH WIESLER, born ca. 1735 in Wattweiler, Rheinland-Pfalz (about 3 miles WSW of Zweibrücken), married CHRISTIAN SCHOWALTER (see ¶c.iv. in companion Showalter article).

 

A.     JOHANNES WIESLER, born 14 Apr. 1746 in Einöd, married ANNA KÜNDIG, died 19 Mar. 1797 at Ruchheim, age 50y 11m 5 d.  Anna was born 14 June 1749, died 15 Oct. 1793.  She was of Mutterstadt.

 

Johannes was probably one of two Mennonite preachers in Ruchheim.  He was ordained in 1775 and installed as an elder after 1790.[1] In 1788 a Johan Heinrich Wissler, preacher, purchased a farm in Erpolzheim (about 5 miles WNW of Ruchheim) (see Fig. 8 in Showalter article) on which a small hall over a wine press had been used by the Erpolzheim/Friedelsheim Mennonite congregation.  He sold this hall to the congregation for 400 guilders.  Elders at this congregation included Abraham Ellenberger (1738-76?), Abraham Ellenberger, Jr. (1776- ?) and Jacob Neff and Heinrich Wiesler and preachers Abraham Ellenberger, 1738 (then made an elder) and Heinrich Wiesler, 1762-90 (then made an elder).[2]

 

The children of Johannes & Anna (Kündig) Wiesler were:[3]

 

i.                     JOHANNES WIESSLER, born Apr. 1772, married MAGDALENA KREHBIEHL 31 May 1810.  Magdalena was born 19 Aug. 1783 in Eppstein.  She was a daughter of Christian & Elizabeth Jotter.  Christian was a farmer.  He died in Mar. 1797 in Eppstein.

 

ii.                   ELIZABETH WIESLER, born ca. 1785.  On 11 Sept. 1804 Elizabeth had an illegitimate child.  Christian Baer, a Ruchheim farmer, was the sponsor of the birth record.

 

iii.                  VERONICA WISSLER, born in 1772, married MICHEL WAGNER 30 Apr. 1801.  Michel was born ca. 1777, a son of Michel & Barbara (Ebin) Wagner of Schwetzingen.

 

iv.                 BARBARA W. WIESLER married JOHANNES STAUFER.  Johannes was born in Feb. 1767 in Guntersblum, a son of Johannes & Christian (Schmitt) Staufer.  Johannes, Sr. died 26 Feb. 1798 in Guntersblum.  Johannes, Jr. was a farmer.  He had married (1) Marie Einsmann (Eymann).

 

v.                   MAGDALENA (MARGARET) WIESLER, born ca. 1793, married HEINRICH SCHOWALTER 26 Jan. 1815, died probably before 1850 in Allen Co. or Van Wert Co., OH.  See #1. in the companion Showalter article for further information on this line.
