My great-great-grandmother was Martha Vaughn who was born in Burke County, North Carolina, where she married her husband James L Bailey in 1845. She had a brother named Matthew. After moving through Union County, Georgia, both families were in Benton County, Arkansas, by the time of the 1860 census. Matthew later served in the 1st Arkansas Cavalry during the Civil War, which was a Union regiment.
