249. William1 Perry;61 born 1606 at England;61 married Ann Unknown before 1641;61 died Sep 1683 at Watertown?; His will probated 3 Oct 1683, mentions Obadiah. Will made in 1681 when he was 75 yrs old.61

he names five others in his will made a. 1681, when 75 yrs. old, pro. 3

Oct. 1683, Obadiah, Samuel, Sarah, Ann, and Abia. He d. 9 Sept.

1683. Abia m. 3 Jan. 1674, William Bull. Farmer thot. him to be

the freem. of 1646, spelt Pary; and for that opinion I see good ground."61

250. Obadiah2 Perry (William1);181 married Esther Hassell, daughter of Richard Hassell and Joan Unknown, 21 Aug 1667;61,181 died 28 Sep 1691 at Dunstable, MA; "Obadiah Perry and Christopher Temple dyed by the hand of our Indian enemies, September, the twenty eighth day in the morning."181

He (an unknown value). He "1. OBADIAH PERRY, son of William and Anna Perry of

Watertown; married August 21, 1667, Esther Hassell,

born Cambridge, December 6, 1648, daughter of Richard

Hassell. See Hassell family. They lived a few

years in Watertown and was one of the first families

of Dunstable. On account of the exposure during King

Philip's War, he removed to Concord and soon after,

to Billerica. It is recorded in Billerica, "February 10,

1675-6, Obadiah Perry, belonging to Dunstable towne,

now resident at Concord, but being inforced to remove

from thence and not accounting it safe at ye present

to remove to his owne at Dunstable, desiring at pres-

ent to hire a house at Billerica, the selectmen, consider-

ing his condition, do grant him liberty to hire in this

towne."

He returned to Dunstable before 1680, and was there killed by the Indians, September 28, 1691. "Obadiah Perry and Christopher Temple dyed by the hand of our Indian enemies, September, the twenty eighth day in the morning." His widow, Esther, married second, August 30, 1693, Martin Townsend of Watertown. He died 1698.

Record is found of six children of Obadiah and Esther (Hassell) Perry.

i. OBADIAH, born, Watertown, October 11, 1669.

ii. EBENEZER, born, Watertown, November 20, 1671.

iii. ESTHER, born, Watertown, August 11, 1674; married at Con-

cord, May 11, 1692, to William Harwood. (See Harwood

family.)

iv. SAMUEL, born, Billerica, July 19, 1677; died November 25,

1677.

v. JOHN, born, Dunstable, January 31, 1682.

vi. ELIZABETH, born, Dunstable, April 7, 1683."181

251. Capt. John3 Perry (Obadiah2, William1) EATON John Eaton, the first of the line here under consideration, is recorded as taking the freeman's oath. May 25, 1636. His wife, Abigail, accompanied by two children, embarked for New England in the ship "Elizabeth and Ann," April 27, 1635, and it is probable that the husband and father came with them.

(II) John (2), third child of John (1) and Abigail Eaton, was born at Watertown, Massachusetts, about 1636. The maiden name of his wife Alice is not recorded.

(III) Thomas, son of John (2) and Alice Eaton, was born at Dedham, Massachusetts, 1675, died 1748. He removed to Woodstock, Connecticut, and afterwards to Ashford, where the greater part of his life was spent. He married Lydia, born in 1679, died in 1748, fifteen days after the death of her husband, daughter of Nathaniel Gay.

(IV) Nathaniel, son of Thomas and Lydia (Gay) Eaton, was born at Woodstock, Connecticut, 1704. He removed with his parents to the neighboring town of Ashford about 1727, and lived there the greater part of his life. He held many minor offices of the town, and for a time was town clerk and town treasurer. He married Esther, daughter of Captain John and Sarah Parry.

(New England Families Genealogical and Memorial);69 born 31 Jan 1682 at Dunstable, MA;181,61 married Sarah Robinson, daughter of Thomas Robinson and Sarah Denison, 27 May 1707;45 died 3 Feb 1745/46 at Ashford, CT, at age 64.70

He "Originally a resident of Marlboro, Mass., he is said by Learned to have bought land on both sides of Still River, near the present site of Eastford Village, in 1711. He was elected constable at the first town meeting, 1715, was active in building a church and selecting selecting a pastor, and listed as a proprietor of Ashford in 1718. He took an interested part in town affairs, and was made captain of the Ashford train band in October, 1722, and was described as an "efficient and courageous officer." At one time he represented his town in the General Assembly. When a conflict arose within the church, he favored more liberal church principles, and finally withdrew from the church. He married 1) in 1707, Sarah (Robinson) Ingoldsby, by whom he had Sarah, John, Jr., Esther, Thomas, Dorothy, and Hepzibah, the last about 1715; about 1728, he married 2) Bridget (Brown) Fitch, who bore him one daughter, Bridget, in 1729. "70
