There is a suspicion that there may be some unmarked graves here as well. These three graves are all covered with a concrete slab. Each marker has a decorative rose on it.

According to Pete from the Bass River Historical Society:

John Mathis who is burried at Chestnut Neck is the grandson of Great John Mathis by way of Great John's oldest son, Micajah. He married Martha Cramer, daughter of Caleb S. and (unknown first name) Baker Cramer. Their children were:

John's wife, Martha is buried next to him. The grave, Louisa Mathis (1804-1850), to the far left is that of the wife of John Shreve Mathis, the son of John. That would make Louisa John's daughter-in-law. It is doubtful that John Shreve Mathis, Louisa's husband, is buried at Chestnut Neck as he later married Sarah Ann Giberson, sold the Galloway Township farm in 1866, and moved to Camden where he opened a grocery store. John and Louisa had 11 children.
