French Cemetery
This is located along Route 542 on the north side of the highwway; it is near New Gretna, just east of the Wading River but I am not sure just which township it properly belongs in. A frequent visitor to these pages, Carolyn, was kind enough to transcribe this very small cemetery for us. It is a very odd location; the graves are quite literally in someone's front yard. A monument there has this inscription:
"In memory of those buried in French Cemetery, one of the oldest burial grounds in South Jersey". All of the remaining stones were recorded by Carolyn in June of 1999, although at one time there were others which have since fallen into ruin.
