So far all I have here is this brief excerpt from E.M.Woodward's 1883 History of Burlington County. Additionally, there are several members of this family buried in this cemetery.

At an early date there was a family by the name of French who settled in the lower part of Burlington County, and it is probable that Francis French, Sr., settled at Bass River, and purchased a farm containing 813 acres of land of Benjamin Mathis, and turned his attention to tilling the soil. He was twice married, his first wife being a French, his second wife was Phoebe, daughter of Jacob Cranmer. He had three sons, Thomas, William, and Jacob.
