Reed Family
I have so far come across only a handful of references to this surname; apparently it was not one of the major families of the area.
They are listed below:
- Beaulah Ann Reed, age 13, lived in the home of James Patten in Washington Township
in 1850.
- Isaac Reed is recorded as marrying Mary J. Coleman at Pleasant Mills on 1 March 1855.
- Martha Reed, daughter of William, married Fred Jervis
and they were living in Pleasant Mills early in the 20th century.
- A woman with the surname of Reid married George Myers at Pleasant Mills on 9 Nov 1848
- According to an article in the newspaper the Courier Post on 4 March 1941, Lydia Reed
was the daughter of John Reed and a grand daughter of Abraham Reed. She was born at Elwood
on 12 Apr 1856 and married Samuel C. Miller at
Green Bank in 1876. As a child she lived 1/2 mile from Pleasant Mills; her father worked at
the paper mill there.
