Descendants of Gregory Timmons
The Timmons Family
Gregory Timmons was born in Ireland, probably in the 1860s or 70s. About all I know of him is
that by the 1890s he was living in the town of Garyross, in County Cavan. According to his
daughter's birth certificate, his occupation was that of a farmer. His wife's name was Anne,
although her maiden name is not known.
The children of Gregory and Anne Timmons were:
- Jerome Timmons. He was killed while jumping onto a boat from a pier in New York City;his body
was never recovered.
- Elizabeth Timmons.
- Ellen Timmons
- Delia Timmons.
- Roseanne Timmons. She was born on 13 July, 1893, in Garyross, Ireland.
She died in New York City in 1960. This is the woman who married
Bernard F. Heerey.
Another reference to a Timmons family in County Cavan is found in the 1796 Flaxgrowers Bounty List;
it mentions an Owen Timmons of Kilsherdney, Co. Cavan being awarded a spinning wheel for growing
1/4 acre of flax.
I have been told of an Owen Timmons who immigrated to Liverpool from Ireland in the 1830s but
I do not know what relation he has to the above Owen. However, I do find it interesting that
Roseanne Timmons, above, was born in Ireland and later married Bernard Heerey in Liverpool,
so I can't help but wonder if this is the same family.

I will begin posting other Timmons info here as I find it, whether or not it relates to my family.
e-mail me if you have anything to add.

Timmons Family #4
There is a line of Timmons in Australia that may be descended from a Timmons family from
Loch Gelly, Scotland. There ancestor was a Jock or John Timmons, born there in the 19th century.
At one point his brother may have been mayor of that place.
Information on this family should be sent to Michael Timmons.
