Willets Family

This bit of genealogy is taken from E. M. Woodward's 1883 History of Burlington County:

The first white settler of Shamong Township of whom any authentic facts are known is Micajah Willets, who settled in the western portion of the Township prior to the Revolutionary War, and chose a spot on which to dwell near Indian Mills, where he erected for himself and family a rude dwelling and cleared up a small farm, and engaged in tilling the soil. His family consisted of:

  1. Benjamin Willets. He married Rebecca Howard, and resided on a portion of the old homestead. His children were:
  2. Richard Willets. He married Hannah Howard, and resided at Tabernacle, until the time of his death in 1847. He had several children.
  3. John Willets. He married and lived at Tabernacle until he died in 1827; he raised a large family.
  4. Mary Willets. She married John Corry, and was living in Shamong in 1883.
  5. Hephzibah Willets. She married Joshua Cline, and was still living in Shamong in 1883. She "reared up a large family of boys and girls."
