This Mansfield township town was formerly known as Encroaching Corners, then by the name of Black Horse before Columbus was chosen as it's official name. I don't know anything about the size of this town or the people who lived there, but I put up this page in hopes that someone out there does. If you know something else about this place, please send me an e-mail at [email protected]
According to a visitor to this site, Cheryl, the logs used to build the Columbus Hotel were sawed by Samuel Horner of New Egypt. The logs were processed at a mill owned by a man named Hutchinson, also from the New Egypt vicinity. The hotel is still standing, as a restaurant/ souvenir shop. When I get a chance I will attempt to contact the hotel and see if there is any more info to be had, and if so I will post it here.
