Harrisville

Although I realize there is actually a considerable amount of information available concerning old Harrisville, like the rest of this site, this page is under constant construction and so I have very little to post here as of now, but I assure you it will grow quite large as time progresses. I always welcome help, so if you know of any genealogical info related to Harrisville, please e-mail them to me.

Currently what I have is a brief description of Harrisville, courtesy of a history published in 1883:
"...Harrisville is a small hamlet situated on a branch of the Wading River, about seven miles from it's mouth, in the northern part of the township {Bass River Twp}. It is the seat of a flourishing paper mill. This mill was erected in about 1834, by an incorporated company, and was operated under the management of William McCarty. This company carried on the manufacture of hardware manilla paper for about 20 years, at which time the company dissolved, and the mill closed for a short period. The present operators are the Messrs. Richards, formerly of Philadelphia.
