Pleasant Plains is a section of Toms River (formerly Dover) township in Ocean county; it is in the northern section of the township, between Toms River and Lakewood, and before the various sections of the township sprawed out and ran into one another in the 20th century, the various villages in the township were viewed more as seperate entities.
