Three Tuns
Three Tuns

This town was said to be located in the Northwest corner of Mansfield Township, Burlington County, in the 1880s. At that time it had only a few residents, though it did have two blacksmiths, a wheelwright, and a Methodist Church.

I have recently been told by another visitor to this site that Three Tuns, Mansfield Twp. Is now Hedding. Rutherford Hayes Potts and Rebecca Patterson Mount Potts owned the farm on Axe Factory Rd. They had three children, Viola, Leonard and Verna. Verna married William Prentice Dally, and they lived down the road on Old York Rd. They had a daughter, Eleanor, and three sons, William, Albert and Rutherford, who all went to the one room schoolhouse, as did all their cousins. Alice Engle Potts, wife of Leonard, was a teacher there and went on to become the principal.
