This Easthampton Township village was described in 1882 as a "small hamlet" about one mile from Mount Holly. It was previoulsy known as Turpentine. The tavern there was built about 1820 by one Samuel Parker. He was succeeded as proprietor by his son, Samuel, and then grandson, William. There was a succession of owners after that until it was abandoned in 1872.
