Farrington is one of the prominent farmers of Shelby county, Ala….He is a veteran of the Civil war, having entered the army at the age of seventeen, in November of 1863.  He served the remainder of the time as a private in Company A of the Sixty-second Alabama.  During this period he had several unpleasant experiences, having been a prisoner at Ship Island for thirty days.  He endured the horrors of siege at Vicksburg, and was there paroled.  Mr. Farrington married in 1872 Mrs. Mary A. Nabers, a daughter of W. H. and Catherine (McKleroy) Moore.  Mrs. Farrington was born near Montevallo, where her parents had settled from Georgia….To the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Farrington have been born…Florence A….Josiah D. Farrington was born in Bibb county, Ala., May 1, 1846, the son of Joseph and Angeline (McGuire) Farrington.  The father was born in Tennessee in 1803 and died in 1875.  He came to Alabama early and was a planter in Bibb county through a long life.  He was the son of Jehu Farrington, who came with his family to the State and settled in Bibb county, where he died in 1859.  As a mere boy Jehu Farrington served in the Revolution.  He reached the remarkable age of ninety-five years.  Josiah D.’s mother was the daughter of Rolling and Miriam McGuire, who emigrated from Tennessee to Bibb county…”]
