Klaver, Anna Pauline (Augusta) Lietzke Clinton County Republican News, Dec. 29, 1955, obituary: Anna A. Klaver, 78 of DeWitt passed away Saturday morning at the home of her daughter after a long illness. Funeral service was held Tuesday from the DeWitt Methodist Church, Rev. B. F. Ward officiating, with burial at DeWitt Cemetery. Anna Augusta Lietzke daughter of Theodore and Frieda Lietzke born in Solkow Stolp, Pomerania, Germany on August 16, 1877. When she was 3 years old she came with her parents to this country and first settled in Ohio, but a year later moved to Clinton County. September 29, 1894 she was united in marriage to Paul Klaver also a native of Germany and they made their home most of their lives on a farm in Olive Township. He preceded her in death in 1944. She is survived by 5 daughters, Mrs. Lydia Howe and Mrs. Florence Magsig of DeWitt, Mrs. Mabel Cass of Lansing, Mrs. Dorothy Smith of East Lansing, and Mrs. Marie Schneeberger of Portland, Mi; two sons John and Francis both of DeWitt. Five sisters Mrs. Marie Prochnow : Mrs. Lydia Gruhn both of Lansing, Mrs. Carrie Rayman of DeWitt, Mrs. Ella Prochnow of Tampa, Florida and Mrs. Frieda Kauffman of Howell; one brother Paul Lietzke of DeWitt, 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Notes for Paul Herman (Klever) Klaver: In 1884 Paul Herman Klaver came to America with his parents at the age of 12. (1880) They settled in Clinton County where he lived the rest of his life. Paul Herman had two years of military training in Germany before they came to America. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lietzke, Adolph F. obituary: Adolph F. Lietzke, 78, of Lawrence died Dec. 26, 1995 at Upjohn Community Care Center in Kalamazoo (Michigan). He was born Feb. 27, 1917 in Olive Township. He spent most of his life in the DeWitt area and attended the Lemm School. Mr. Lietzke was a retired farmer. He made his home with Robert and Rachel Garrod on their farm in Lawrence for the last 22 years where he helped farm and drove a tractor. He is survived by one aunt, Gertrude Lietzke of Lawrence; three sister-in-laws, Eva Lietzke, Dawn (Daune) Lietzke, both of DeWitt, and Maxine Salters of St. Johns; seven nephews and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Bertha Lietzke; three brothers, Ezra, Kermit and Donald; one nephew, Randy. Memorial services were Dec. 29 at the Lawrence United Methodist Church with Rev. Ronald Brooks officiating. Interment will be held Jan. 2, at DeWitt Cemetery in DeWitt. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lietzke, Theodore Louis Clinton County Republican News, Feb. 20, 1941, obituary: Word was received here Monday of the death Sunday of Theodore Lietzke of Lansing at the age of 90 years. Mr. Lietzke lived in this vicinity many years before going to Lansing to be with his daughter. The family has the sympathy of their many friends. Mr. Lietzke was a good Christian man, upright and honest and was beloved by all who came in contact with him and will be sadly missed from the home of his daughter Mrs. Jacob Gruhn of Lansing where he died. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the DeWitt Methodist church with Rev. L. E. Price officiating. Burial was made at the DeWitt cemetery. Mr. Lietzke leaves 5 other daughters, Mrs. Anna Klaver of DeWitt, Mrs. Carrie Rayman of Olive and 3 others, two sons Paul and Theodore of Olive and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rayman, Louis: obit: Rayman, Louis -- Age 79, died Thursday evening at his residence at 1767 E. Alward Road, DeWitt, MI. He was born Aug. 25, 1883 in Germany, coming to the United Sates at the age of 17, and working in the Pennsylvania coal fields. He lived in Lansing 6 years before moving to the present address in Olive Township, where he had lived the past 48 years. Surviving are his wife Carrie: 2 daughters Mrs. Gale (Mildred) Boron and Mrs. Louis (Irene) Boron both of Laingsburg and a son, Winston of DeWitt; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren. ... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Schaffer, Lucille ? Gruhn Tates Schaffer, Lucille of Lansing Our beloved mother and grandmother went to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 20, 1997. She was born in Okemos 85 years ago on August 12, 1912. Gram was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard. Surviving are her son, Milton D. Gruhn of Lansing, MI; daughter, Elain (Tafts) Friedman of Charlotte, NC and son, Kenneth Tafts of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl; 8 grandchildren, Cricket, Dan, Cherly, Tim, Julie, Amy, Bruce, Todd,; 6 great-grandchildren, and 5 brothers and sisters, William Gruhn of Pueblo West, CO, Erma Hopkins of Inverness, FL, Russell Gruhn of Mecosta, MI, Dale Gruhn of Lake Wales, FL and Barbara Jean Patrick of Elsie, MI. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church for 18 years. Gram will live on in our memories as a person who lived well, laughed often and loved much. Interment in Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing, MI.
