Isabelle Margaret Johns

Isabelle Margaret Johns Female

Born: 2-Apr-1918
Died: 23-Nov-1996

Occupation: telephone operator Bell Canada from 1936 to 1983 in North Bay, Ont with a few years leave. Marg worked on the old cord boards "Which number can I connect you with?" type. She retrained for the dial change over in 1956, and again in 1966 for long distance. Most of those years, she worked on-call, part-time or casual. She was finally hired as a regular part-time operator after Bill died. Not bad for a woman over 55! Marg loved to travel, unfortunately, she didn't do much until later in life. Her first trip was with Tom and Eva to Florida to see Austin and Peg. Then she got the bug: Barbados, Bahamas, Cuba twice, Hawaii twice, British Columbia, California, Venezuela, the Canadian Maritimes, New England, Mexico 3 times, and a gruelling 3 week bus tour through Europe from England to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Italy, Monaco (yes she played the slots there) France and back to London.
