   General Notes:

He was a first settler of Piscataway. He signed "Oath of Allegiance," 1672, and was approved Sergeant, 1681. Dutch Schepen, 1673. He received his patent for land, May 1, 1697, in right of his late father, Ezekiah Bonham (error for Nicholas Bonham) etc. (ARCH. Vol. XXI, pp. 268 and 281). He gave the name to Bonhamtown, Woodbridge Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey, which is five miles northeast from New Brunswick and is so preserved to this day.

   Events:

1. Will; 6 Feb 1682/83. His will was proved 4 Jan. 1684/5, but witnesses testified on 18 Dec. 1694. His wife Hannah and son Hezekiah were named executors; mention was made of other children ( not named); witnesses included Edward Slater and Isaac Smalley who were also overseers and took the estate inventory on 28 July 1684.

   Marriage Information:

Nicholas married Hannah FULLER, daughter of Samuel FULLER and Jane LOTHROP, on 1 Jan 1658/59 in Barnstable, Barnstable Co., MA 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9. (Hannah FULLER was born about 1636 in Scituate, Plymouth Co., MA 10 and died about 23 Aug 1686 in Piscataway, Middlesex Co., NJ 10.)

   Marriage Notes:

Of the sons, only Hezekiah Bonham survived or remained in Piscataway, to either perpetuate the name or family, and he soon removed to Maidenhead.

They moved to Piscataway, New Jersey, thus bringing the Edward Fuller line there at an early date.
