Bedwell, 45, a veterinarian born in Kansas, as head of household with: Minnie E., 36, born in Ohio, his wife of 14 years; son Harold, 19, a farm hand born in Kansas; daughter Dorthy, 12, also born in Kansas; son Floyd, 9, born in Oklahoma; and mother-in-law Flora Singer, 73, a widow born in Ohio. They own the farm they live on.(Note: the census indicates that George was 23 at the time of his first marriage, while Minnie was 22; therefore, George must have had a previous marriage.)

• From The Atchison Daily Globe (Kansas), Saturday, January 13, 1945:
"Clarence E. Bedwell, formerly of Potter and Atchison, but now of Denver, will celebrate his 57th birthday on Kansas Day, January 29. Clarence has been a member of the Denver fire department for several years, was an Atchison fireman at one time, and during World War I served on the military department at Fort Riley. He was born and reared at Potter, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bedwell, a mighty fine pioneer couple. He is a brother of Mrs. Fred Seute of near Potter. His brother, Dr. George Bedwell, who is also a Potter product and who formerly operated a livery stable there, has long been a government veterinarian, and is now located at Marshall, Mo., near St. Louis. Clarence Bedwell is eligible for retirement as a fireman, but on account of the war and the scarcity of men for such jobs, he is staying with it. His son, Pfc. Alan W. Bedwell, has been a prisoner of war in a Phillipine prison camp since Corrigedor."
