He taught at Hickman, Ky., 1921; Farragut, Tn., 1922-24; Eutaw, Al., 1927-32, then was Greene County Superintendent of Schools, Eutaw. He was master of Amity Masonic Lodge, 1947-48; a member of Amity Chapter, Tuscaloosa Council, Amity Commandery and Zamora Shrine Temple of Birmingham, Al.; commander of Lewis-Morrow American Legion Post, 1941."
