Carroll V. Bedwell, 86, of Lewis died at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2006,
in his residence. He was a retired field engineer with Alcoa Aluminum Co. He
was born Dec. 21, 1919, in Lewis to Ross Bedwell and Zeta Scamihorn Bedwell.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Wheeler Bedwell, whom he married June 26,
1946; two sons, Joe Bedwell and his wife Mary of Independence, Mo., and Jim Bedwell
of Terre Haute; one brother, Walter Bedwell and his wife Doris of Fort Wayne;
two grandchildren, Sara Mayes and husband Michael, and Jill Maxon; and two great-grandchildren,
Aralyn Mays and Nathan Maxon. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Don Bedwell
and Warren Bedwell; and one sister, Pauline Bedwell.
He was a 1937 graduate of Blackhawk High School and was an Army veteran of World
War II, serving with the Army Signal Corp. He was a 50-year member and past master
of Vigo Lodge 29 Free & Accepted Masons in Lewis, was president of Stephens
Cemetery Association, was president of Lewis Community Center, and was a member
of Lewis United Methodist Church.
Services are 2 p.m Saturday in the church. Burial is in Stephens Cemetery, Lewis.
Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, and one hour before
services Saturday, at the church. There will be a Masonic Memorial at 7 p.m.
