HOWELL, JASON W., educator, lawyer, was born Aug. 29, 1849, near Blountsville,
Ind. For thirteen years in succession he was engaged in educational work. In
1879 he was admitted to the bar; and was elected city attorney of Paris, Ill.,
four times in succession during 1887-95.

attorney at law, born in Indiana, and: wife Ida, 29, born in Ohio; daughter Fannie,
7, and son Herbert, 1, both born in Illinois.
• 1900 Census for Paris, Edgar County, Illinois shows J.W. Howell, born
Aug 1849 in Indiana, a lawyer, as head of household with: Ida, born Nov 1850,
born in Ohio, his wife of 29 years who has had seven children, just two still
living; daughter Fern F., born Oct 1872 in Illinois; son Herbert H., born Feb
1879 in Illinois; nephew Carney, born Dec 1881 in Indiana; and Glenn Jones, a
16-year-old lodger.
