in Ottumwa. Later was asociated with E.E. Bruce & Co. in the drug business
in Omaha. President of the National Wholesale Druggists Association in 1918.
Died of pneumonia."
1900 Census for Omaha Ward 8, Douglas County, Nebraska shows Charles E.
Bedwell, born Feb 1859, a wholesale druggist, as head of household containing:
Emma H., born July 1859, his wife of 18 years who has had six children, five
still living; daughter Mary E., born July 1884; son Edgar H., born Dec 1885;
son Ralph N., born Feb 1891; daughter Louise, born Dec 1892; daughter Charlotte,
born Nov 1894; and Nanie Rein, 25, a servant born in New Jersey. They are renters
on N.20th St.
1910 Census for 9-WD Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, taken 22 Apr 1910,
shows C.E. Bedwell, 50, a druggist, as head of household with: Emma H., 49, his
wife of 27 years who has had six children, five still living; son E.H., 24, a
drug salesman; son R.N., 19, a student at a military school; daughter Louise,
17; daughter Charlotte, 15; daughter Mary B. McNown, 25, who has been married
two years and has had one child, still living; granddaughter Elenor McNown, 10/12;
and Anna Nelson, 19, a servant born in Sweden. C.E., Emma, E.H., and Mary B.
were born in Iowa, the rest in Nebraska. They are homeowners.
1920 Census for Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska shows Emma Bedwell, 60,
a widow, living with daughter Charlotte Loomis and her husband Maurice Loomis. Charles
Edgar Bedwell and Emma Hill were married on 18 May 1882 in Iowa.204 Emma Hill204 (daughter of Newton Clark Hill and Mary C. Blake) was
born on 14 Jul 1859 in Wapello County, Iowa.204
She died on 10 Nov 1937 in Seattle, Washington.204 She was buried in Ottumwa Cemetery, Wapello County,
Iowa.

EMMA BEDWELL DIES IN WEST
Daughter of late Mr. and Mrs. N.C.Hill was born near Ottumwa, Iowa, 78 years
ago
Word has been received by Mrs. H.L. Waterman, 232 East Fifth Street, of the death
Wednesday morning at Seattle, Washington, of her sister, Mrs. Emma Hill Bedwell,
widow of C.E. Bedwell. The body will be brought here for burial in Ottumwa, Iowa
Cemetery at a date to be announced later.
Mrs. Bedwell was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. N.C. Hill and was born
July 14, 1859, on the family farm in the north area of Ottumwa, Iowa. She was
married here and the family made their home in Ottumwa, Iowa while Mr. Bedwell
was a member of the old wholesale drug firm, Black, Bruce & Co. of which
J.W. Edgerly & Co is the successor. From here the Bedwell family moved to
Omaha where Mr. Bedwell, continued in the wholesale drug business. He died in
1919. Mrs. Bedwell made her home the last two years in Seattle, Washington with
her daughter, Mrs. R.A. McNown. She is also survived by two other daughters and
a son, Mrs. Charlotte B. Loomis of Sioux Falls, S.D; and Mrs. Louise B. Holland;
and Edgar Hill Bedwell of Chicago, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren, on great-grandchild,
and her sister, Mrs. H.L. Waterman; and a brother Horace Hill, of South Pasadena,
California.
