Goodman, 85 of Linton, passed away at 8:35 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Glenburn Home in Linton. Born in Linton on March 12, 1921, he was the son of William P. and Dessie (Bedwell) Goodman. An U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he worked for Templeton Coal Company and retired from the Amax Coal Company after 32 years. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, and also was a member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion Post No. 22, the VFW Post No. 7118, and Masonic Lodge No.560, all of Linton. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gladys M. (Risk) Goodman on April 26, 2004, six brothers, Clellie, Hallie, Ollie, Harley, Arnold, Cletusl and three sisters Helen Goodman, Olive (Goodman) Haussin, and Ruby (Goodman) Thomas. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel with the Rev. David Tyra officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post No. 22 and the VFW Post No. 7118.
