SULLIVAN -- Lois Smith, 79, of Sullivan and formerly of Dugger died Saturday, March 20, 2004, in Sullivan County Community Hospital. She was born Oct. 9, 1924, in Sullivan County to Corda Dunbar and Floyd Bedwell. Her husband, Ferne Smith, died in 1991. Survivors include three sons, Alan and Gary Smith of Dugger and Tim Smith of Willard, Mo.; three daughters, Laurie Booker of South Bend, Jan Phillips of Sullivan and Jayne Smith of Vincennes; one brother, Wayne Bedwell of Dugger; her friend and caretaker, Mary Monroe of Sullivan; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by twin daughters, Alice and Alicia Smith; and one sister, Judy Booker. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, in Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with the Rev. John Booker officiating. Burial is in Morris Chapel Cemetery.

Lois Evelyn Bedwell and Ferne M. Smith were married on 25 Jan 1942. Ferne M. Smith died in 1991.²²⁶¹ Lois Evelyn Bedwell and Ferne M. Smith had the following children:
