Eugene Dale Bedwell, 86, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003 in Provo, Utah of cancer.

He was born March 31, 1917 in Linton, Indiana to Roy David and Berniece Inza Moore Bedwell. He lived in Indiana, Illinois and Colorado before moving to Utah in 1991.

He married Ada Mayme Louise Willard on April 10, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah and they were together for 63 years until her passing in July 2002. His brother, Clifford Bedwell, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his three children; David (Jacqueline Leneker) Bedwell of Boulder; Darlene (Richard) Fredericks of Layton, Utah; and Daniel (Bonnie Bentley) Bedwell of Allen, Texas; seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1945-46 in the Philippines and Korea. He was an accountant and worked for Gulf Oil Corporation in Indiana and Illinois, and Colorado Mortgage Company and Bernie's Plumbing and Heating in Boulder, Colorado.

Gene was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served two church missions with his wife; one to Sydney, Australia in 1983-84, and another to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1986-87. He served as a patriarch in the Boulder, Colorado Stake and a sealer in the Denver and Provo LDS Temples. His other interests included his family, genealogy, traveling, music and sports. He loved the mountains and enjoyed many camping trips in the high country.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 25, 2003 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, Utah.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at 12 noon in the Edgewood Ward Chapel, 3500 North 180 East, Provo, Utah under the direction of Bishop Kevin King. The family will welcome visitors at the chapel 10 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, Orem City cemetery.
