He lived in Pikeville, Bledsoe County, Tennessee.

• 1860 Census for Pikeville P.O., Bledsoe County, Tennessee, shows Andrew J. Bedwell, 29, a farmer with $100 real estate and $50 personal assets, living with L.J., 17. They have no children yet and are living next to Andrew's father, Hiram Bedwell and his family.

• Civil War records show Andrew J. Bedwell: Born in Rutherford County, TN, wheelwright, 5' 9", dark complexion, black hair and black eyes. Enlisted April 12, 1863 at age 35. Was discharged May 9, 1865 at St. Louis, MO. Disability discharge.

• 1870 Census for District 1, Bledsoe County, Tennessee shows H(?) A. Bedwell, 38, a wheelwright, as head of household with: Louisa J., 28; Catherine, 8; Mary J., 4; James F., 3; and John, 1. All were born in Tennessee. Louisa is listed as unable to read or write.

• 1880 Census for District 2, Bledsoe County, Tennessee, taken in June 1880, shows Andrew J. Bedwell, 50, a farmer, as head of household containing: wife Louiza, 37; daughter Catherine E., 18; daughter Mary, 17; son James F., 14; son John O., 11; son Charles S., 9; son Andrew J., 6; and daughter Sarah A., 3. All are shown as illiterate.

• 1900 Census for Bledsoe County, Tennessee, shows Andrew Bedwell, born November 1830, a farmer, living with: wife (illegible -- starts with L), born July 1842; son Willis (or Willie) H., born 1884; and daughter Lula H., born Aug 1887. Andrew and his wife have been married for 40 years. She has had ten children, all ten of whom are still living.

• His death certificate confirms that his father was Hiram Bedwell. His mother's identity was not known to Mrs. Andrew Bedwell (presumably, the wife of his son Andrew), who gave the report.

Louisa Jane Beach⁵⁷⁸ was born in Jul 1842 in North Carolina.⁵⁷⁴ She died of heart trouble in Sep 1911 in Bledsoe County, Tennessee.⁵⁷⁹ She was also known as Louiza.

Death certificate lists name as Eliza Jane Bedwell, aged 66 years in Sept 1911. Andrew Jackson Bedwell and Louisa Jane Beach had the following children:
