• World War I Draft Registration card, signed 5 June 1917, shows Emmett Berry Bedwell, born 15 May 1893 in Bellville, Tennessee, a resident of Fayetteville, Tennessee. He is a farmer. He is married with a wife and four children. He is described as tall and stout with black eyes (hair color is not given). His writing and signature are very sloppy, with poor spelling.

• 1920 Census for Lincoln County, Tennessee, shows Leota Bedwell, 28, a widow, living with her daughter, Evelyn, 7, in the household of her parents, Isom and Ella Waid, both 59.

(1920 Census for Fayetteville, Lincoln County, Tennessee, shows Emmett Bedwell, 26, who works as the manager of a pool room, as head of household consisting of: wife Maggie, 28; stepchildren Newman Baker, 10, J.D. Baker, 8 (male), and Willie Baker, 6 (female); daughter Annie, 2 and 11/12 (census was taken on Jan 19, 1920); and daughter Thelma, 3/12. They are renters on Hedgemont Ave. in Fayetteville.

• 1930 Census for Lincoln County, Tennessee, taken April, 1930, shows a Maggie E. Bedwell, 39, first married at 16, as married head of household (no husband shown), a laundry worker, living with children: Annie R. Bedwell, 13; Thelma L. Bedwell, 10; V. Elise Bedwell, 8; Marel I. Bedwell, 5; and Emmett Bedwell, Jr., 1 & 11/12.

1930 Census also shows Emmett Bedwell, 36, living as a lodger in a rooming house in Akron, Ohio. He was born in Tennessee, parents both born in Tennessee, and was working as an apartment janitor.)

• Bedwell -- Funeral services for Emmett Berry Bedwell, aged 44 years, were held at the Chestnut Ridge Church of Christ Friday, at 2:00 p.m., by Eld. C. C. McQuiddy. Death occurred from heart trouble at the home of his mother, Mrs. L. P. Harned, at Bellville. Mr. Bedwell was formerly a resident, of Newell, West Va., where he was employed by the Homer Laughlin China Company. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. E. B. Bedwell; two brothers, Everett, and Judgielee; five daughters, Evelyn, Ruth, Thelma, Elsie and Marelle; and one son, Emmett, Jr., all of Bellville. Burial in the Old Orchard Cemetery at Petersburg.
